Reviews of Volume 2:

Oct 22th: A Review at KillaNet Technology Ltd.

"I think that this book will do more to bring an understanding of the videogame culture to non-gamers than any collection of web sites and media articles could possibly do. Parents everywhere will benefit from this book, while gamers will embrace this book for the validation it brings to our gaming culture. The Book of Games Volume 2 is an excellent counter-weight to those who vocalize loud and long their negative views on the gaming industry as a whole. I challenge those who, without really understanding what videogames are truly all about to pick up this book and read it. "
"...I whole-heartedly give The Book of Games Volume 2 a five star rating, and if there have been this many improvements in the series just between volumes 1 and 2, I can hardly wait until I get a look at Volume 3 which will be out in November 2008. To the authors I say "this is a work to be proud of, a job very well done."

Reviews of Volume 1:

Jan 30th: A Review at Electric Playground

"Although the pages don't appear to hold a lot of info at first glance, they get a surprising amount of data in there. The world size, the number of hours of gameplay it provides, if it's an online game or not... The information is helpful for painting a broad picture of a game if you don't have one, and it even has stuff that isn't covered by a lot of game review/information sites…Every glossy page is handsomely laid out with screenshots and box art. Even though every entry has been packed with screenshots, the quality and size is such that you can still get a good look at the game. The book looks verrrry nice "

Jan 24th: A Review at GameShark

"Each game entry in the book is around two paragraphs long with a brief introduction on the game and a list of game facts (publisher, developer, format, rating, genre, release date, etc.) An additional full color page packed with screenshots from the game in question is also included to round out the presentation. The most striking thing about this book is how much eye candy is packed within its 448 pages (from cover to cover)."

Jan 4th: A Review at news0r.com

"The book is quite ingeniously separated into sections based not on era, developer or publisher but on genre. In addition the lists titles according to their genre. While it might seem like a minor feature of the book, the impact it has on its usefulness can't be underestimated. It takes the book from merely being a chronicle of the games from the past year but something that can be used; something that can help gamers identify games that are available now, but that they might have missed and that they may enjoy."

Jan 4th: A Review at Vagusnet.com

"Style-wise, the book is a refreshing change from the over-filled magazines in todays newsagents, with a clear, crisp and unique art direction, backed up by some hefty images. The only downside in presentation would be the actual layout of the book. Personally, I thought it could've been slightly less organised, but judging by the level of design, perhaps GameXplore were going for the high-gloss, no fuss structure?."

Dec 21th: A Review at British Gaming Blog

"It’s not a review book, and as a reference book it serves its purpose well, but having it not read like a press release is important though that is not always achieved. The presentation is nice, the feature articles are fantastic and I’d like there to be more of those..."

Dec 16th: A Review Xbox Live Addicts

"The Book of Games is worth a purchase and I would defiantly recommend it, and it is something that you can pick up and read between gaming. It is an excellent reference to gaming terms and is very well presented and beautifully illustrated. Just the right size too to pick up and read. Parents would also find this book very useful when deciding what game to buy their child. I look forward to volume two, which they plan to publish in November 2007, and another one each year after."
